I am not sure if it happened while I was away, or just happened this last week, but driving down a little country road on Friday, I realized that autumn had arrived. I know everyone has been acting and blogging as though it is most definitely, definitively autumn as soon as the first trees started turning color. But until I spotted the leaf-dappled rain-wetted road, it did not feel like fall to me.
Maybe, hubby felt it too, as we got the whole gang together to immerse ourselves in that autumn feeling over the weekend. The five (nope, make that six) of us went hiking at a new spot – Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois. Here are a few snaps I took on my phone. Hubby captured a few really scrap worthy ones on his camera too.
There were two trails, first a short one with lots of observation points atop the rocks with fabulous panoramic views and then a second more wooded one. According to college girl’s phone app, we walked about a total of 3 miles.
Dukie did great considering that with his little legs it had to feel like 30 miles. There was an obstacle or two he needed help navigating – like logs across the trail or step rocky parts of the trail. Sometimes he and I stayed off the highest precipices, and tried to amuse ourselves taking selfies. (He was less amused than me!)
That’s all for today, I have tons of layouts from the crop still needing to be photographed. The dreary cloudy days of the past week were conducive to typing up blog posts, but I lacked timely sunshine for taking photos. I hope to catch up on that this week.
Speaking of catching up, I have cleared my blog reader the proper way, by reading not deleting – so much so that Google thought I was a robot because I had commented so much in a single day. I am thinking that is a badge of blogging honor!
Now, hop along to Sian@FromHighInTheSky and friends to catch up with what is new with them.
