Scrapbook News from Darmstadt and Beyond

So I am remiss in not having posted about our sisters' weekend earlier this month.  There was one quite remarkable thing about it.

My older sister completed her first scrapbook layout -- EVER!!

She and my younger sister had started the weekend on Friday afternoon, but I did not arrive until Saturday morning, when hubby was leaving for his fishing trip.  Apparently, elder S was telling younger S about her new kitten and showing her cute photos.  Younger S thought them scrap-worthy, so they uploaded them from elder's phone to the local Walgreens and picked up the prints that same day.

When I arrived, younger S and I (middle S) started working on scrapbook pages.  [Yes, our parents gave all three of us girls names that begin with S, and yes, it caused some confusion back in the day.]

Soon, the two of us were getting her started using a scrapbook kit that younger S had on hand.  As she was getting the hang of it, she was smiling quite a bit.  While she doesn't think she will jump into the hobby with both feet as her sisters have done, she does think she will be doing it again.  Probably at the next sisters' weekend, possibly to be held in Darmstadt, unofficial scrapbook capital of the Midwest.  Elder S is not yet retired early like her younger sisters.  She is a nurse, often working more than 40 hours a week, so her free time is limited.  Her sisters both upped their scrapping games when no longer working.  We shall see how this develops.

In other news, I continue to be lucky when it comes to scrappy drawings.  I won a free sketchbook from Scrapbook Generation during their National Scrapbook Day celebrations the first weekend in May.  I didn't even have to scrapbook to win -- I simply answered a question in their Facebook group.  How fun!

That's all the scrappy news I have today.  We are looking forward to spending time with friends this weekend, although both days are supposed to be scorchers, with temps near 100!  See Me on Monday!

  1. Hopefully Elder Sister S will come into the fold of sister scrappers & start a whole new adventure for the three sisters. Her first pages of a perfect subject are really nice. My first scrap page is of my horse & we know where that lead to.

  3. I have the same initials as my sister and our brother has exactly the same name as our father, and yes it did lead to confusion at time.

I do like your sister's layout and congratulations on your win.

  4. I love the fact that your elder sister has been persuaded to join you and your other sister with scrapbooking! It's the sisterhood of scrapbooking sisters! I really like her first layout and look forward to seeing what she does during the next sisters' scrapbooking weekend. :)

  5. My sisters and I get together twice a year to scrapbook for a long weekend. I'm thinking we need to "up" that since we're all retired now.

  6. First rate job!! Love the word SMILES. Such a pretty font. Did you guys use a Cricut or buy that somewhere? My sister and I scrapbook together via Facetime. It is one of my favorite things to do.

    1. It was a kit from Quick Quotes, so I don't know the name of that pretty font.
